Devilock x Red Ribbon - AIDS Awareness T-Shirts - Akiho Yoshizawa (吉沢明歩)

As specialists and researchers convene at Mexico City today for the start of the 17th Annual International AIDS Conference, Japanese label Devilock and Red Ribbon, an AIDS educational group established by Yahoo! Japan, created a special t-shirt series to raise awareness on the increasing rate of HIV infections in Japan.

To garner attention for the public, the 2 organizations enlisted assistance from 5 of the top actresses in the Japanese adult-video (AV) industry: Akiho Yoshizawa (吉沢明歩), Arisa Kuroki (黒木アリサ), Honoka (穂花), Yuma Asami (麻美ゆま) and Rio (柚木 ティナ). Each model posed semi-nude with messages which advocate protective sex, AIDE awareness, and regular testings. Identically printed on each tee’s rear, detail information on AIDS and HIV, the virus that cause AIDS. Similarly on both sleeves, an additional message along with Devilock’s logo.

To be officially release during the later half of this month, the Devilock x Red Ribbon T-Shirt Collection is now available for pre-release reservation on eproze of ZOZOTOWN shopping network. The pre-order period will end on this Friday, August 8th.  The proceeds from the sale will go to Red Ribbon.

Bearing a close resemblance to the early Nike Zoom LeBron VI samples and looking completely different from the final product, this is one of the original prototypes of LeBron James’s sixth signature sneaker. These chopped up pictures are all we have at the moment, but it is visible that a combination of brown suede and leather was used on the uppers. We had a preview of the above AJF 3 in black and scenery green back in late May but only had an unconfirmed release date of just August 2008. This past weekend, Brand Jordan dropped them at select Urban accounts around the country. The model features an interesting upper of black rip stop nylon in addition to the scenery green elephant print used in the toe, heel and lace loops. The rest of the body is mostly black as well with just a bit of scenery green in the outsole. You can find these now at select urban accounts including bnyconline.com and Eastbay.com.

One key difference between Japan’s bustling fashion industry and its counterparts world wide is the role of the fashion stylist.  While stylists are relegated into obscurity, such as the fine print section on a magazine spread.  Their peers in Japan have enjoyed a level of appreciation as the facilitators of designer’s vision in real life environments.  Some were given monthly columns in magazines, while others were granted more - to be the designer themselves.  Which is what happened to Tadashi Mochizuki (望月唯), who in 2002 became the creative director of men’s collection for Japanese fashion label RICO.
